Charles Moncrieff
Died April 2005 at Monklands Hosiptal in Airdrie, survived by his wife, of ten years, Greta. He lost his first wife, Ena, in April 1991.

He was born in Stenhousemuir, where he lived for many years, then laterly moved to Camelon then Cumbernauld.

They had five children, four girls, Helen, Vini, Ena and Ann and a boy, David.

Loved by all his Grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He loved to paint, he was also a master carpenter and a great dancer, he loved his ballroom dancing. Thats where he met his wife Greta.

He celebrated his 80th birthday in July 2004 with a party in the Plough Hotel, Stenhousemuir, surrounded by all his friends and family and was reacquainted with some of whom he hadn;t spoken to for a while.

He passed fairly unexpectedly, although we got to say goodbye, I think he was just scared and tired as Greta was ill aswell. Greta passed exactly a month after Charlie did!

Personally, my Grampa, the only one I knew and will love and miss forever, The image of holding your hand and being told by the nurse you could hear me is something I will keep in my mind forever. P.S. Gramps - the painting with the ducks that no-one likes holds pride of place in my hallway!!

In Sympathy

So sorry for your loss, your story has touched my heart. My nan passed away last year and it feels like my whole world has been taken away. My thoughts are with you. God bless. I hope you find this poem of comfort, as I have done. x

What is Dying?

A ship sails and I stand watching till she fades on the horizon and someone at my side says 'She is gone'.

Gone where? Gone from my sight, that is all. She is just as large now as when I last saw her. Her diminished size and total loss from my sight is in me, not in her.

And just at the moment when someone at my side says she is gone there are others who are watching her coming over their horizon and other voices take up a glad shout 'There she comes!'

That is what dying is. An horizon and just the limit of our sight.

Lift us up, Oh Lord, that we may see further.

At this time of sorrow,
may these truths sustain you...
Your loved one will always
be as close as a memory,
and the God of all comfort
will always be as
close as a prayer.
